Jordan Lake Water Supply Project

The Triangle region is growing. To support this growth, the WIP aims to secure a long-term water supply for the area. The plan involves withdrawing and treating water from Jordan Lake. That water would then be delivered to our communities’ water systems.

About the Project

Jordan Lake is a reservoir west of Raleigh and south of Durham in Chatham County. It supplies water to surrounding communities. The lake is a popular place for recreation, and it helps conserve fish and wildlife habitats. Jordan Lake also controls flooding and water quality. All this makes the lake a vital regional resource.
