The Western Intake Partnership (WIP) has made an important decision in the planning process for the Jordan Lake Water Supply Program. This decision is regarding the use of the site near neighborhoods along Seaforth Road. As planning has progressed, the proposed Water Treatment Facility is now planned for a new location. The Jordan Lake site near communities along Seaforth Road will continue to be part of the project, but for now only a raw water pump station and intake will be constructed.
A raw water pump station is much smaller than the water treatment plant and requires significantly less space. It supports the intake and delivery of raw water as part of the regional water supply system.
At this time, planning and design are still underway, and the exact location of the pump station within the site has not yet been determined. The Partnership is evaluating which layout will support the new program plan. Due to this, the exact use of specific areas within the Jordan Lake property is not yet identified. As decisions are refined, nearby residents will continue to receive updated information and opportunities for engagement with the project team.
Western Intake Partnership recognizes the change but emphasizes that:
The Western Intake Partnership remains responsible for the raw water intake, conveyance infrastructure, and pump station facilities associated with this site, and remains committed to ongoing, transparent communication as the project moves forward.
